Positive: Less expensive in comparison to similar properties.

Negative: Remote location, no local amenities. What the property description doesn’t tell you is the house is on a farm, so be prepared for farmyard noises, smells and lots of flies! We had to make up our own beds, the clean sheets were just left on the bed, that’s a first for us! One of the ‘en suites’ (it was actually outside the bedroom) didn’t have a toilet, so anyone in that bedroom had to use the toilet downstairs. Kitchen utensils were sparse and old. There were no cleaning cloths, just one thin tea towel. The few ‘Teflon’ pans were very well used, damaged Teflon can be dangerous! None of the pans had handles. The BBQ was so old & rusty there’s no way it could be used. The water in the ‘shared’ Jacuzzi had not been maintained and was merky. When in use hot tub water should be checked every day for chlorine & PH Levels (potential legionnaire’s disease!). The house appears to be a converted barn, the dividing walls are so thin you can hear everything from the adjoining occupants. There was half a toilet roll in each bathroom, so we had to buy more. There was no entertainment, just a TV with French channels, which is not great if you’re English speaking. Why not install a smart TV to provide more channel options? No DVD, books, games and the WiFi was painfully slow.

Summary: Basic accommodation on a farm in a very remote location.
