La Châtaigneraie offers a spectacular base for a large group or family gathering in the fabulous French Pyrénées - just 40 minutes from both ski resorts and beautiful Mediterranean beaches.
Space to be together…. and, just as importantly, space to be apart! With 2 acres of gardens and superb views in all directions, we offer a unique combination of great facilities for large groups to socialise together whilst also offering individual families privacy to enjoy precious time away from the crowd.
There is a substantial main house plus 2 independent apartments and a 2-person Petit Gite which may be booked for Exclusive Use or as separate units. With heating throughout and two cosy log-burners it is suitable for holidays all year round.
Out of peak season we are happy to offer reduced rates for smaller groups (14 - 18) booking Exclusive Use of the main house only.
The central kitchen is equipped to cater for up to 30 people with 2 ovens, 2 hobs and 2 fridges. The impressive central lounge has leather sofas, log-burner and a cinema-style 5-metre film screen with surround-sound for film evenings. Indoor dining for 28 can be arranged if required.
Outdoors there are plentiful choices of patios and terraces enabling the whole group to BBQ and eat together at one table.
Each gite/apartment is completely independent with its own lounge, TV/DVD and kitchen facilities (including fridge-freezer, microwave and dishwasher) offering great flexibility to suit your catering requirements.
Facilities include free WiFi, swimming pool, gym, library, flood-lit boules court (which doubles-up for badminton and volleyball), mountain bikes and games room with a great selection of board games, library and table-football. Gardens offer plenty of space for team games along with areas of peace and tranquillity.
Our “Chef à Domicle” can offer reasonably priced, restaurant-quality meals. The local boulangerie delivers fresh bread and croissants to your door each morning making breakfast so easy.
It is a 15 minute walk through orchards and alongside the River Rotja to the centre of the village. Sahorre has a bistro/bar which will happily cater for large goups, along with a handful of small shops and farms selling their own produce.
The famous spa town of Vernet les Bains is less than 2 miles away, with a wider selection of shops and restaurants. It has a supermarket, spa, swimming pool, tennis courts, a market 3 mornings a week and even a casino!
The fortified medieval village of Villefranche de Conflent is 5 miles away – the starting point of the famous mountain railway, Le Petit Train Jaune.
There are many miles of beautiful walks directly from our property. If you prefer to simply relax by the pool, the area is renowned as the sunniest in France with a glorious 320 days of sunshine every year.
Beautiful all year round, just 45 minutes from either Mediterranean beaches or ski resorts we really do offer the best of both worlds.
