This log cabin is nestled in the middle of the EAST CROSS FOREST on a 10 acre property within the rolling hills of Scugog and the north edge of Clarington, this private cabin is ideal for your getaway from the everyday. Enjoy laying in a hammock enjoying the sounds of birds flying overhead, make a fire under the stars. unlimited wood for fire-pit. Simply relax and unwind from your busy life. Only 20 mins north of the 401 from Bowmanville situated east of Blackstock, Ontario
You really get a sense of being in true wilderness here. One gets the feeling of a northern forest environment yet it’s a short drive from any point in the gta. All property around this property is forested also.
This property is secluded and is only one of three private properties in the East Cross Forest.
This cabin is 100 sq feet on ground level and 100 sq feet upper level and well designed to meet your needs for a camping/outdoor event.
There is no hydro. however there are lights that operate off a solar panel. there is no refridgerator - there is a cooler provided if needed. No ice.
water is harvested from rain and held in a cistern and there is running water to the kitchen sink. There is hot water when heated on the propane stove. there is also an outdoor shower as shown in the pics. The shower works off the solar spray system as shown in one of the last pics. The special solar bag allows the sun to heat water in the bag to 37 degrees in 2.5 hours. If you want an instant shower then you can heat water on the propane stove and use the funnel provided to fill the shower bag. The water bag runs water for 8 mins.
the water is not potable. bring drinking water.
a large outhouse filled with windows and artwork is located behind the cabin.
there is a propane bbq on site and a propane hot plate for cooking.
common viewings of wildlife includes deer, porcupine, red squirrels, turkeys. coyotes are often heard.
firewood is provided for the fire pit although i cannot guarantee that it will be dry for burning. bring your own if it has been raining for a few days just to make sure. Also there is alot of fallen wood/branches throughout the forest, scavenging for wood on site is another possibility.
please be aware that pine needles are extremely flammable and the utmost caution should be taken to keep fires small and contained within the pit.
the interior of the cabin is equipped with a couch and table and chairs. dishes and cutlery are provided. There’s a French press for making coffee. Coffee is not provided for the press.
the double bed is located in the bedroom loft. you must be able to climb a ladder to access the loft.
If you are booking for the months of April, May, September and October, please bring your own extra blankets to meet your needs of comfort.
the property consists of a red pine forest and deciduous trees. There are numerous and amazing trails that run through the east cross forest that are accessible from the north end of the property. be careful not to get lost. These trails are great for biking also, ATV'S, mopeds. Above all enjoy what the forest and the wilderness has to offer!
