You are about 55 minutes from Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. Leonardo DiCaprio's film. The Reverent was also filmed in Kananaskis. We refer to Kananaskis as a bear country.
You are about an hour and 30 minutes away from Banff National Park and 2 hours from Lake Louise.
Calgary is also known for the movie Cool Runnings which was about the Jamaican Bobsleigh team. That was filmed in Calgary Olympic Park which is where the 1988 Winter Olympics took place. check these out to get some idea of the scenery around here. The West is a beautiful country where many movies have been filmed. Movies such as Dances with Wolves, Jessie James, and a favorite of Kevin Costner. Yellowstone and Heartland are all filmed around this area.
