This expansive, Dog-friendly, waterfront home at 540 Ponder Point Drive offers a rare opportunity to experience the best of Sandpoint from one of the area’s most desirable neighborhoods. Located just three miles from downtown and nestled along the north shore of Lake Pend Oreille, this 6,800+ square foot retreat is ideal for large families and groups, with space to comfortably sleep up to 18 guests.
The home features six bedrooms and plenty of room to spread out. The primary suite is located upstairs and includes a King bed and a luxurious en suite bathroom with a large soaking tub and separate shower. Also upstairs is Bedroom 2, which has a Queen bed. On the main floor, Bedroom 3 and Bedroom 4 each feature Queen beds and private en suite bathrooms. Downstairs, Bedroom 5 is furnished with two Double beds, while Bedroom 6 is a large, bunk-style room with two Double beds and two Twin beds, along with a ping pong table and card table for games. The lower-level living area includes two additional Twin beds, perfect for younger guests or flexible sleeping arrangements. A workout room with a weight machine is also located downstairs for guests wanting to stay active.

**Note: Each year, on September 18th OR the 3rd Sunday in September (whichever is later),the Army Corps of Engineers begins dropping the water level of Lake Pend Oreille until ultimately reducing it by a total of 10-12 feet. Around the 4th week in September ALL boat docks and boat lifts on the lake become inaccessible and unusable, as the water completely recedes back from the shoreline leaving just bare ground beneath the docks. The agreement with the Army Corps of Engineers states the lake level must be restored to full pool level each year no later than July 4th, however, the last 10+ years the lake water has been at full pool level around the 2nd or 3rd week in June.

Summary: We had an incredible stay at this beautiful and enormous Lakehouse! Our large family (spanning three generations) fit extremely comfortably, and the home had everything we needed for a relaxing, fun-filled incredible getaway. The space was spotless, well-stocked, and thoughtfully designed for both group gatherings and quiet moments. The kitchen was fully equipped, which made cooking meals together easy and enjoyable. We especially appreciated the large dining area where we could all sit down and eat as a family. The outdoor space was a highlight – from morning coffee with a lake view to evening fires by the water, every moment felt special and was designed to be so. The children loved the water activities and exploring the area, while the adults enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and cozy spaces to unwind. There were plenty of beds and bathrooms, so no one ever felt cramped. The Daugherty management company (the hosts) were extraordinarily communicative, exceedingly friendly, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. You can tell they really care about the guest experience. In addition, a welcome gift of wine, cheese, crackers, etc. was left on the kitchen counter for our arrival. This was so appreciated by our family, my nine-year-old granddaughter said that we should leave them a gift package. We made wonderful memories here and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing retreat with family or friends!
